Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love, taking friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the London scenes in the first episode, the entire series, including the scenes in the film, was filmed in Wales. Essex. The house used as the Shipmans’ (Gavin’s family) house is in the village of Dinas Powys, 1 mile northwest of Bury, where the Westies (Stacey’s family) live. In Series 3, both Breen and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has changed from T-reg (MY 1999) to X-reg (MY 2000). Breen’s green Picasso has changed from CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). Gavin & Stacey is one of the best sitcoms I’ve seen in years. It has a fantastic cast and a brilliant script by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The show follows Gavin (an Essex boy) and Stacey (a receptionist on Barry Island) as they begin their relationship over the phone while at work. The series has received such positive reviews that a second series has already been ordered.
